The MSOE Library Raider Return

Health, Safety, and Service in the MSOE Library during the COVID-19 Pandemic

In compliance with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Raider Return Plan, and with guidance from MSOE’s Raider Return Task Force, a large number of health and safety measures have been implemented in MSOE’s Walter Schroeder Library in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the many challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic is that it’s common to employ phrases such as “at this time,” “at this point,” and “in this fluid situation.” As a result, library and Raider Return Task Force personnel continue to actively monitor and to assess health and safety on the campus and in the library. Additional library-related health and safety measures – with guidance from the Raider Return Task Force – will continue to be implemented as necessary in response to ongoing events.

An overview of the measures that have been taken is provided below. Please view the MSOE Library Raider Return Plan for additional information.

  • Beginning in the Winter academic quarter, the library reduced its operating hours.
  • Seating has been reduced by 56% and has been reconfigured to maintain safe distancing.
  • No public access to the library is permitted.
  • Strict adherence to all university safety policies, including mask wearing, is required.
  • Floor markings and signage have been installed to encourage safe distancing in the library.
  • HVAC and ventilation systems have been assessed and deemed in alignment with current CDC guidelines.
  • When borrowed items are returned, they are quarantined prior to returning to circulation.
