When one’s eBook is completed, one needs to choose a platform for distribution. There are many options, but the various platforms can be roughly divided into retailers and aggregators. The most straightforward route is to directly upload your eBook to one or more of the major retailers. Retailers sell your eBook online. These include:
Self-authors should research digital rights management (DRM), ISBN numbers, and other termsof publishing for each retailer.
The other option is to use an aggregator who is an intermediary that distributes to a wide range of retailers. This may include distribution to one or more of the retailers previously mentioned as well as libraries and international retailers. Aggregators may also provide additional services such as format conversion, editing, and proofreading. Using an aggregator is more efficient but authors will pay additional fees for their services.
