Hey there MSOE students, faculty, and staff. The library is excited to announce that we have some new arrivals on our shelves. No matter your book preferences, the library has something for everyone! So come on down and get some summer reading done before classes officially begin! To find out more take a look at these new titles:

The Sirens' Call: How Attention Became the World's Most Endangered Resource by Chris Hayes

Author Chris Hayes, a former commentator and MSNBC Host, tackles the 21st century’s biggest human hurtle – our decreasing attention spans. Using Homer’s Odyssey as a metaphor, Hayes delves into how life is now dictated by views, likes, and shares. Our attention is being lured and trapped by clever marketing, entertainment, and dubious information, and yet we have somehow become even more isolated. This book of paradoxes gives us an insider investigation of the psychology of attention.

Mismatch: how inclusion shapes design by Kat Holmes and John Maeda.

Ever wonder why a computer mouse is designed the way it is?  Or why aren't all touch screens user friendly? Does color really play a role in how a tool is used? In Mismatch, authors Kat Holmes and John Maeda, give us a history of design and how inclusive design practices are the way of the future. They explore how to help make design better by working with users who are usually excluded from the beginning. If you're a fan of design - don't miss this one!

The Inventions, Researches and Writings of Nikola Tesla by Thomas Commerford Martin

Author, Thomas Commerford Martin, takes us into the history of Nikola Tesla’s works, writings, and dreams. From creating a regulator for rotary motors to a direct arc lighting system, the work of Tesla can now be explored in detail.

Whether you prefer to delve into attention seeking psychology or have a passion for design and inventions, we have something for you! Still looking for more recommendations? Give us a call or stop by – we'll be happy to find the right book for you! Happy reading!
