About The Library: Home

Find out what the library offers, how it works, and who you can find here.

The Walter Schroeder Library is committed to providing resources and services that meet the informational, instructional and educational needs of MSOE’s community. The library is a comfortable, accessible place for the MSOE community to gather and conduct research. We provide areas for quiet study and areas for groups to congregate. We are open late during the school year to accommodate night-owl studiers. Our library collections have strong coverage in business & management, engineering, mathematics, nursing, and physics & chemistry. The library also has an experienced staff of librarians to assist you with all of your information needs.

Library Materials

Print and Electronic Books, Journals, and Newspapers
The library has approximately 45,000 print books and nearly 700,000 electronic books, with strong coverage in engineering, mathematics, physics and chemistry, nursing, and business.

We also offer:

  • Entertainment DVDs and books in a variety of genres
  • Theses, capstone projects, and senior design projects by past MSOE students
  • University Archives and Special Collections

Library Spaces

The library occupies two floors of the library building, each offering different amenities.

First Floor Second Floor
  • Silent study: The entire floor is dedicated to undisturbed, silent solo work. (Please take your calls and conversations elsewhere.)
  • Print book and journal collection: If you're looking for physical/print materials, you'll probably find them here.
  • Senior design projects: Browse our collection of projects done by former students.
  • Comfy seating and solo work space. Collapse into a cushy chair by a sunny window, or grab a private study carrel.
  • Talking floor: Work with fellow students, have conversations, etc. -- we are absolutely fine with noise on this floor! Group seating at tables and booths is also available.
  • Collaboration/study rooms: Reserve a space to work in smaller or larger groups.
  • Schroeder conference room: Meetings, gatherings, and occasional class sessions take place in this room. And, it's reservable.
  • Printers and Copiers: Print in both black and white and color.
  • Vending: The library offers a limited assortment of drinks and food for self-service purchase. Don't study hungry!
