References, Citations, and Style Guides

A guide outlining the resources available to help students, faculty, and staff manage citations, references, formatting, and more.

Getting Started

At its basic level, Zotero is a citation management tool that can help with:

  • Organizing PDFs of research papers, including annotations and highlights
  • Inserting bibliographies and citations into a word processor of your choice
  • Sharing research with collaborators
  • Discovering articles in your field

To download Zotero:

  • Go to Zotero.org
  • Download the application for your type of device

You can also sign up for a free web account that allows you to sync the desktop library with the online library. This allows for easy access if you use a different computer or need to share libraries with colleagues and group members.

Consider downloading Zotero Connector, an application that allows you to save references via your web browser with just one click.
