Banned Books Week is a special week dedicated to acknowledging the freedom to read and defying censorship. Banned Books Week started in 1982 after the number of books in schools, book stores, and libraries started to rise. Banned Books week highlights literature that may challenge one's belief but also raises a lot of awareness with ongoing issues. Banned Books Week unites all book lovers, students, and educators to support everyone's freedom to their own knowledge and to read whatever they desire.
