Walter Schroeder Library Makeover: Makeover Blog

Upgrades to the Schroeder Room

The library's conference room, the Schroeder Room, has always been one of the nicer meeting spaces on campus - wood paneled walls, burled walnut tables, and the chairs! Those leather chairs are like butter and so comfortable that everyone wants to abscond with them.

That said, the technology was a little behind the times: the LCD was serviceable, the projection screen worked fine, but there was little else provided tech-wise.

Not so anymore.

Now there's a new LCD projector, a new screen that comes down automatically when you select projector icon on the new tablet that can run everything in the room from the new camera to the lights. Plus, you can connect wirelessly via AirMedia. It's pretty swank.  If people didn't want to use the room before, they sure will now. Graduate students will want to defend their theses here. Classes will want to practice public speaking/presentations here. Campus groups will want to have their meetings here - I know I do. (Maybe want is a strong word since thesis defenses, public speaking, and meetings aren't necessarily everyone's idea of a good time, but at least the venue will be awesome.)

FYI: If you'd like to reserve this fabulous room for your MSOE event, be sure to book it at least 3 full days in advance via rooms.msoe.edu. This is considered a main event room and comfortably holds about 20 people. Walk-in use is not allowed, so please reserve the room ahead of time. Thank you.
