Walter Schroeder Library Makeover: Makeover Blog

Week 10: Here's what's happened the last few weeks

Things are happening at a slower pace now that the bulk of our makeover work is done, but that doesn't mean improvements haven't been made.

IT stopped by with new laptops to replace the older versions we make available here for student use. They also brought us a big and beautiful color printer to replace the previous desktop unit. The cost to print color will still be $0.30/sheet which will be deducted from your Raider Account, but we anticipate fewer printing issues with this new model.

Also, we spread out our popular reading books to fill out the shelving space. This will hopefully not only provide a visual and sound buffer, but the extra spacing made it possible to better display books and allow for collection growth.

Finally, we put together a DVD viewing station at the southeast corner of the second floor so that students, staff, and faculty can view standard educational and entertainment DVDs on site. The set-up includes a DVD player remote control along with wireless headphones available for checkout so those studying nearby won't be distracted by the sound.

Soon to be in the works are technology upgrades to the library's Schroeder conference room and some new furniture for the library's west commons area.

Stay tuned for more updates, or better yet, stop by and see them for yourself.
