Walter Schroeder Library Makeover: Makeover Blog

Week 7: Fine Tuning

Wow! What a difference a few weeks can make! If you've been checking out our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MSOEWalterSchroederLibrary/, then you've had a chance to see a bunch of the changes that have taken place.  Today's upgrade was the return of some of the Man at Work Art on loan from Eckhart Grohmann's famous collection.

The carpeting is completed like a whole month in advance! It looks great! The space has a whole new feel to it.

The walls have been painted calming green that was pulled from the carpet tiles. A special thank you to Pat McCue and his student worker, Matt, for the excellent work they did. They covered a lot of wall (I would say ground, but clearly that was the carpeting people). The overall effect is fresh and clean and calm.

The floor plan is as settled as we can make it before the new furniture arrives. We are expecting a pair of booths and two sets of banquettes for the West Commons as well as some more tables for group study on the east side of the 2nd floor.  We also ordered a couple of movable white boards  that will also help facilitate group collaboration.

Both the Schroeder Room and the study rooms will be opened up for reservations with the exception of a couple of weeks blocked off for Schroeder Room technology upgrades (8/7/17 - 8/18/17).

IT currently has our student-use computers and has decommissioned the old color printer. New laptops and a new color printer will be installed before school starts in September.

So, while there is still additional work to be done, the lion's share has been accomplished and much ahead of schedule.

You should stop by and stroll though. We'd love to hear from you!
